Traveling the World

(Manila, Philippines) My new home for a few days while traveling. There is a nice park just down the street that has many chess hustlers...I mean players...that will challenge a chess addict to the utmost. I will update again soon on my trip.

Seems to be a luxurious hotel. One wonders who has the money? :-)

Chesstiger: Yes, a 5 Star...very nice. BTW, was very much money. I got a great deal.

BDK: Well, let me tell you about the chess at Rizal Park in Manila. It cost me about 20 Philippine Pesos to get me head slit wide open. Each game was the same price with about the same result. They played with clocks on a 15 minute time control. These lads seem to live there at the park...as they had a lady who cooked and cut their hair. Most of the tactics I saw came from home brewed opening preparation...such as you might see in a blitz game. I am sure once I learned to defeat their openings, I stood a chance. Alas, I never did figure them completely out in the few days I went there.

Hi RP!

This is Kiko of Philippine Chess Chronicles Blog.

I hope you did enjoy your stay in my home country. Truth is, it is called Rizal Chess Park or Luneta Chess Park.

True to form, these lads you call are Master Calibers but sadly, there's not much opportunities for them due to lack of financial gain for chessers in the Philippines.

This ain't exaggeration my friend but one thing I wish to know... Did you enjoy your stay? I hope you did!

As for me, Im on a travel mode here in Morocco since January 29.

Anyways, keep safe and keep on pushing those pawns in a free world!
